What did Man Utd win in Brazil. F@ck all! What did Man Utd gain in Brazil - A mid-season holiday!
Whatever the motives of Man Utd PLC to have the club involved in the World Club Championships could an ulterior motive be seen? They won nothing here and missed out on the FA Cup but did Alex Ferguson see this as a chance for a mid-season break for his poorly, tired and dirty little lads. The poor mites struggle on with only a measly £20k weekly salary, struggle to reach the training ground in their BMW’s and mix only with the rich and famous. Yes it’s a hard life. The poor lads needed a holiday and that is what they had. A couple weeks in the sun, a couple of run outs and the opportunity for one D Beckham to prove what a prize prat he is by almost taking an opponents leg off during a match. Not that the spolit brat would do such a thing. Has he learned anything since his sending off against the Argies in the World Cup? Playing for Man Utd seems to put you above the law and of course if a Ref ever did challenge them to facing the rules Ferguson will abuse you from the touchline and criticise in the media.
The trip to Brazil may mean they come back refreshed and ready for the twin challenges of Champions League and Championship. They are within catching distance of Leeds and have games in hand. Leeds themselves may falter if Woodgate and Bowyer are sent down for their alleged involvement in the assault on an asian student. If found guilty they deserve long sentences but then again is it just tabloid hysteria? Was it just rich footballers out on the piss on that night or are they involved in this disgraceful event. WE will wait and see but the Leeds title challenge and two promising football careers could be thrown away if they were involved.
Three teams are contesting the championship. Leeds and the two giants - Man Utd and Arsenal. The odds would be in favour of Manchester but it would be nice if a new team built on young British talent could win even though that team is to all Hull City supporters ‘The White Shite’.
