Idiotic Sports that are begging for accidents to happen.

You know the kind of thing Bungee jumping for one - dont even try and tell us you have never watched someone throw themselves of a high platform and never once briefly wished for the rope to snap and your point to be proved!!
Well heres one for you Barefoot waterskiing - ouch.

Dick Pope Jr. was apparently the worlds first barefoot waterskier. In 1947 he suddenly decided he was fed up of waterskiing safely and began stepping off his skis onto his bare feet. The first barefoot competition was at Cypress Gardens in 1950 when there was a seperate competition for barefooting because the rules of trick competition required the use of skiis. At the National Tournament in 1956 Mike Osborne was given permission to put on one of the first major barefoot exhibitions. Later in that tournament a pair of doubles skiers perform the fist double barefoot routine.
1958 Joe Cash invented a deep water start (now replaced with easier method) 1960 Don Tompson invented the tumble turn. 1961 Randy Rabe first successful backward barefooter. 1962 Don Thompson performs back to front and front to back surface turns. 1963 First Australian National Championship.
By 1970 the Australians began to upstage the Americans with Garry Barton introducing several new tricks. In 1973 an international competition was held at Cypress Gardens and the Australians won every event.
The number of barefoot competitors in the US remained small until a couple called John and Margaret Hacker began to collect interest by instructing in the advanced techniques of barefoot waterskiing, promoting the first world tournament. This helped establish the American Barefoot Club (ABC).

In 1978, 54 skiers from 10 countries competed in the first World Championships on the Molongo River in Canberra, Australia. Australia dominated world competition until the retirement of Brett Wing and the loss of the mens overall title by Mike Seiple in 1984. The Americans won back the overall title at the 1986 World Championships in West Germany.
